The Saheed Mewa Singh Sports and Cultural Festival 2022 was held in Surrey (Canada) on August 14th, 2022.

At this event, athletics, volleyball, soccer, wrestling, and weightlifting activities were held. Many sports lovers took part in these events. Miss Sukhjeet Kaur Diwana (Barnala, Punjab), who participated in the high jump grabbed a gold medal by acquiring a first position in this category. Sukhjit Kaur does not need any recognition because she has improved her sports talent step by step and has collected gold, silver, and copper medals. Through the National Sports Academy Khelo India, the athlete has reached the international level of India. The name is included in the series of brilliant players.
Sukhjit Kaur, the beloved daughter of father Sardar Avtar Singh and mother Paramjit Kaur in Punjab’s Barnala district, while talking to Today News on phone, said that she was passionate about sports from her childhood and wanted to become an athlete. As a result of practising high jump, long jump, etc. with a strong desire to become a runner, as a result of which, under the guidelines of sports teacher Sardar Jaspreet Singh Mander, she won a silver medal in the inter-district and Chandigarh competitions and in the year 2018 at the inter-country level. She won a silver medal in the high jump at the Games in the city of Panang, Malaysia. In the same year, she won the gold medal in high jump at the Nehru Stadium in Delhi. Delhi’s renowned sports and youth-promoting Khelo India 2019 won a silver medal in the gold race in the high jump. In the course of that, Members of Parliament Bhagwant Mann of District Sangrur and Gurmeet Meet Hayer, MLA from Barnala and city residents, were honoured to her Last year in 2020, in the Sangrur District Marathon, under the guidance of Sports Minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, she won a silver medal. She won many medals while playing on the state level, but she always had the desire to do something big in sports ambit. Ms. Sukhjeet kaur told to TODAY NEWS TV that with support of my parents and brother to move forward and achieve this goal with their encouragement.
