Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Jitendra Jorwal presided over a meeting with the administrative officials to review the preparations for the block level games to be started from September 1 in district Sangrur under ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’. Deputy Commissioner said that the games to be formally started from the War Heroes Stadium in which cabinet ministers, MLAs, judicial, civil and police officers, media representatives, lawyers, renowned sportspersons have been invited to participate. He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has made a noble initiative to promote sports culture among children, youth and the elderly through block. He also appealed the district residents to participate and enjoy the two-month long sports competitions.
Deputy Commissioner said that the Mega opening ceremony to be held on September 1 at the War Heroes Stadium, where a large number of personalities from various walks of life will participate in the exhibition race He said that apart from sports activities,  traditional folk dances of Punjab and Gatka will also be performed which would become the center of attraction.  Mr. Jitendra Jorwal said that a total of 19 sports grounds have been selected for the block level sports competitions which will be held till September 7 in the district.

During the meeting, he instructed the officials of various concerned departments to coordinate with each other and carry out the entire arrangements on time.  He instructed the District Sports Officer to make all the necessary arrangements for the convenience of the players and to deploy employees to set up the help desk at each location.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Varjit Walia, SDM Navreet Kaur Sekhon, Assistant Commissioner Devdarshdeep Singh, Assistant Commissioner (Under Training) Nitesh Kumar Jain, District Sports Officer Ranbir Singh and several others were also present in the meeting.
